Ramsey's First Birthday Party

Tuesday, August 29, 2017

This post is a little late because well.. editing pictures takes quite a lot of time. You best believe this was quite the photo op, so literally tonssss of pictures to go through. I tried my best to narrow them down to my absolute favorites, but that's near impossible because of how much I loved this day and the snapshots that were captured.

There's something about milestone events that always gets me. The day I got married, I cried as we left the church for our honeymoon. I cried driving back home from our honeymoon too- but I think that's a little more understandable. Don't even get me started on Ramsey's birth- I cried constantly, but I was at least hormonal. I WAS EVEN SAD TO LEAVE THE HOSPITAL. There, I finally admit it. As happy as milestone moments are I always feel a little sad- and I'm not sure why. I think it's because I know how much I'm going to miss it when it's over? I hope this is making some sense, and that I don't sound like a complete lunatic over here. So of course I felt a little sad the day of her party too. I just couldn't believe this day was already here- and with the snap of a finger it's already been a couple weeks since.

We kept her party as simple as possible. We only had our immediate family come down to celebrate with us. That way we didn't have to set a time for things to start and we could work around Ramsey's nap times (sleep schedule went down the drain after she cut a top tooth, so we were still recovering from that). We made her smash cake ourselves, along with cupcakes for everyone else. Zach picked up a few boxes of pizza, and we had a few chip and dip options. Just realized we totally forgot icecream- oops! It was the absolute sweetest little party. I like that we kept it simple and didn't go overboard, which is so easy to do these days. Especially after scrolling through Pinterest!

Ramsey had a much better reaction to her cake and candle this time around (compared to her birthday pancakes with the candle on top). When everyone started singing she got so shy!!! It was the sweetest thing EVER! She had no problem digging into her cake either. Don't worry, we did not let her eat much of it. I know it was a giant cake for such a little human! HAHA. Her first birthday party was a complete success in my opinion. It was a day filled with lots of laughs and memories that we'll never forget. I better get a head start on planning next year's party cause it'll be here before we know it!
